Ely City WI take part in Climate Coalition’s campaign
Our climate is changing as a direct result of human activity, and the impacts of climate change are already being felt across the world.
The WI has a proud history of taking action to protect the environment and Climate Change is a key priority for us. As a founding member of The Climate Coalition (www.theclimatecoalition.org), along with over 150 other organisations such as the National Trust, Oxfam and the RSPB; we work to protect what we love from climate change.
This Valentine’s Day, Ely City WI are showing the love and turning green by taking part in the Coalition’s campaign. Throughout February we will have a magnificent display in Ely Library which will showcase all sorts of green hearts, made by our members, in support of the action to help mitigate climate change.
Our members have knitted, drawn, sewn, crocheted, stuffed and created a plethora of green hearts as part of the ongoing awareness to tackle climate change. The display will be available from 1st February until 27th February 2022 so do pop down and take a look.
More information on the campaign and how the WI is involved can be found here: www.thewi.org.uk/campaigns/
Our next meetings are on February 14th (bring a pen and wear red (optional)) and March 14th in the Old Dispensary, St Mary’s Street where our Guest Speaker will be Marie Brown. Why not come along? Bring a friend? Meet new friends? Socialise? Enjoy an evening out? Do something different and find out that it’s not all ‘Jam and Jerusalem’ but ‘Journey and Join’; the WI really does have something for everyone so why not start your journey with us and come along and see what we are all about?
