About Ely Online

Ely Online was created back in 1996 by Lee Gillett. It was the first ever website dedicated to Ely in Cambridgeshire, UK and was featured on the front page of the Cambridge Evening News as well as in the Ely Standard local newspaper (see image left).

The website has been through many incarnations – the latest of which is still being re-created following a nasty digital infection.

Subsequent to the above we have now linked in or incorporated much of our historic content which is nice to see from a nostalgic point of view.

We have also now merged with the alternative Ely Online (the Other Side Of Ely) website and are pleased to be able to present the wealth of historic information available within that website.
