Recycle Your Christmas Tree

As New Year approaches, many residents may have a rather sad needless real Christmas tree in their front room – well East Cambridgeshire District Council can offer a solution.

Residents can leave their real tree out – cut to the height of their wheelie bin – on the days when their green recycling is collected up until Friday 29 January.

Cllr Julia Huffer, Waste and Recycling Champion of East Cambridgeshire District Council said: “With the last piece of turkey now gone and most of the Christmas decorations looking a bit limp on a tired looking tree, people might wonder what they can do with their tree. Luckily for residents in East Cambridgeshire, they can leave their Christmas trees out for recycling on their usual green bin collection day.

“These will then be taken to be turned into compost which will be extremely useful for gardeners and farmers in the New Year. This is great stuff which brings nutrients to garden and helps plants to grow strong. So please recycle your Christmas tree for everyone’s benefit.”
