Grants approved to help communities

Young people and a book club are among those set to benefit from grants totalling £2,000.

At Commercial Services Committee at East Cambridgeshire District Council, Councillors agreed funding for the following projects from the Community Fund Grant Scheme:

• Little Downham Book Café will receive £1,000 to help with new flooring and a play area for children
• Stretham Youth Club will also get £1,000 to help with a programme which involve outings to the countryside for members

The Community Fund Grant Scheme is there to support projects and schemes throughout the District which help some of the East Cambridgeshire’s most disadvantaged residents.

Councillor Richard Hobbs, Chairman of Commercial Services Committee at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “As always we receive a wide variety of applications for grants to support projects across the district.  We hope the money which has been allocated will make a real difference to these two worthy causes. I look forward to hearing how these projects develop in the weeks and months to come.”
