The Library Presents – Local arts events in Ely, Soham & Littleport in August

Samba drumming in HaddenhamSamba Drumming at Soham:

A high energy and all-inclusive experience that will get everyone having fun with beats and rhythms. Never touched a drum? Doesn’t matter, Anthony Paul will support you to have a go. All instruments provided.

Running time: 2 hours

Suitable for: Families (7+ yrs) and Adults. All children under 12yrs must be accompanied by an adult with a ticket.

Key Things to Note:

Samba drumming is loud, ear plugs are supplied, or you can bring your own ear defenders.

Enjoyment is the main aim; everyone will be making mistakes as they learn.

Drumming takes place with hands or sticks. Shakers are also used.


Wagon of Dreams:

Wagon of DreamsCome and meet the outrageous mermaids and fantastical sea creatures that live in the wonderful “Wagon of Dreams”. A playful, inventive outdoor show by Jellyfish Theatre. Lots of puppetry, music and laughter.

Relaxed performance with integrated Sign Supported English.

Suitable for: Families with children aged 3 – 8yrs

This is an outdoors performance.

An accessible port-a-loo will be available.

Chairs will be provided, and audience members are welcome to bring blankets.

The performance will go ahead in light rain (umbrellas provided). In extreme conditions the performance will be cancelled, and tickets refunded.

Indian Dance Workshop; Kuchipudi style for beginners:

Indian DanceIn this highly enjoyable workshop, Ranjini Nair will teach you steps and gestures used in Kuchipudi-style dancing. Together you will create a story and tell it through movement and dance. Learn how to use your hands and feet to become an enormous elephant, a tiny buzzing bee, or a mighty flowing river!
