Chatteris Parish Church are pleased to welcome the return of Ely Consort on Saturday December 3rd to perform a wonderful programme of chamber choral music by Dove, Elgar, Gjeilo, Hagenburg, Durante and Hummel together with the Acro String Quartet and Anne Reece piano.
The theme for the first half is ‘Winter Songs‘, with the exception of Durante’s Magnificat – this is a fabulous work, well known as Pergolesi’s Magnificat, but which was misattributed for much of the 20th Century!
The second half performance will be Hummel’s Mass in B Flat, not widely known today but when commissioned at the turn of the 18th to the 19th century was as highly regarded as Haydn’s great masses and Beethoven’s Mass in C Major.
