EW LEADERS APPOINTED AT EAST CAMBRIDGESHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL

East Cambridgeshire District Council (ECDC) has announced its new Leader and Deputy following May’s District Elections.

Former Deputy Leader, Councillor Anna Bailey, has been appointed as the new Leader of the Council, while Councillor Joshua Schumann has been announced as the Deputy Leader.

The changes were ratified at the Council’s Annual meeting held last night (Thursday 30th May).

The change in leadership comes after Charles Roberts, stepped down from his position ahead of the local elections. Councillor Roberts has served as the Leader of East Cambridgeshire District Council since May 2017 and had been a Councillor representing the ward of Stretham since 2011.

The Annual meeting also saw the appointment of a new Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Council.

Councillor Lis Every who was previously Vice-chairman, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the council while Councillor Sue Austen has been appointed to support Councillor Every as the Vice-Chairman.

Chief Executive of East Cambridgeshire District Council, John Hill, said: “We welcome the new team of Councillors to East Cambridgeshire District Council and look forward to working with them in the future to ensure the District continues to be an attractive place to work, visit and reside.”

Following the Local Elections that took place on 02 May, the East Cambridgeshire District Council is now made up of 15 Conservatives and 13 Liberal Democrats.
