Folk in the Fens – a sublime mixture of different musical styles celebrating music from the heart of the British folk tradition.
Folk in the Fens is based on a long and fruitful collaboration between singer-songwriter Jeremy Harmer, violin virtuoso Steve Bingham and musical arranger Phil Toms, backed by an amazing sextet of musical friends, players at the highest level of their craft.
The Ad Hoc strings offer music inspired by the folk tradition, lovingly brought to life in their exuberant playing.
The Boxwood Chessmen are a semi-acoustic, four-piece band raiding a fabulous musical pantry stocked with the finest root ingredients: folk, Americana, Angliana, hokum and a light dusting of swing, all delivered with panache and fun …. Pretty much anything goes into the pot.
Cambridge-based David Savage is one of the country’s leading concertina players. A singer and interpreter of the folk tradition from Morris tunes to earthy ballads of life in the raw, he has enchanted audience for many years.
Capstan Full Strength, as you can probably guess, sing sea shanties in perfect close harmony.
The whole goes to make up an evening like you have never known before – combining so many different kinds of music that you won’t know where to begin. We certainly don’t. Be there to experience it!
