The Military Wives Choir is run as a charity and is made up of wives of serving members of the military who through their love of singing formed to entertain the public. This event features a collection of Christmas carols and songs within the magnificent cathedral.

Burwell Print Christmas Fair
Now in its fourth year, the fair has something for everyone. For those who want to purchase someone something special for Christmas, for the children who want to visit Santa in his grotto and watch his elves as they go about their business. There is also musical entertainment from a local choir who sing a collection of Christmas carols, a variety of side stalls that offer local crafts, jewellery and food produce etc. Refreshments are available

Visit the Education Workshop inside the Stained Glass Museum inside Ely Cathedral to learn the art of Christmas Wreath Making as shown by the Swaffham and Fakenham Florist ladies, then make your own wreath which will add style to a table as its centrepiece or to hang on a front door to give a warm welcome. All the materials are supplied. Refreshments are available.

Although during the Seventeenth century, christmas was banned throughout the commonwealth many people still celebrated in secret, here Nora Gardner a local guide and historian takes the viewer on a cookery tour of the food ingredients and flavours that would have been used to create a festive meal such as Turkey Pie, Plum Porridge, Mince Pies, Herbs and Spices Wine and Ale, all created in the original kitchen of Oliver Cromwell’s wife. Listen to the stories behind them and taste the results.
