Police investigating assault in Market Street

Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in Market Street, Ely. The incident is being treated as actual bodily harm, and officers are asking anyone who witnessed the assault or has CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.

Rail disruption affecting Ely travellers

If you’re travelling by train, services through Cambridge have experienced significant disruption in recent days after lines into Cambridge were blocked. One of the UK’s best-known folk festivals returns to Stuntney Estate, just outside Ely. This year’s line-up includes:

Alongside the music there’ll be camping, workshops, ceilidhs, Morris dancing, children’s activities and local food and drink.

Cambridge Open Studios

Throughout July, around 40 artists and makers from the Ely area are opening their studios to visitors. It’s an excellent opportunity to meet local artists, watch demonstrations and buy original artwork directly.

Free Sunday afternoon concerts continue during July, beginning at 2:30 pm. Bring a picnic or enjoy an afternoon by the river while listening to live music.

Ely Repair Café

Bring broken household items, electrical goods, clothing or toys to be repaired by skilled volunteers rather than throwing them away. Booking is recommended.

The third “Powered Up Business Networking” event will take place in Ely this month, bringing together local business owners and entrepreneurs.
