Stranger Than Fiction – Because the news is unbelievable.
Hypocrisy, Lies, Propaganda and Living in a Dual Reality.
On Saturday after UN Resolution 1973 was accepted and Colonel Gaddafi declared a ‘ceasefire’, I was mildly amused by television commentators who called Gadaffi a ‘wily old fox’ or ‘clever’, for doing so. With the might of the greatest military machine in existence, pointing it’s big guns at you, waving a UN Resolution, giving them carte blanche to shoot; it seemed like a pretty obvious thing to do. What reality are people living in?
Anyway, the War machine was clearly on an inexorable path and I wondered how they would go forward with their plans after this incredibly ‘wily’ move from Gaddafi. The threat of a massacre of civilians in rebel-held Benghazi was used to justify getting the UN Resolution passed, so I looked to Benghazi for a false-flag. A false-flag, is military terminology. It’s a covert operation designed to deceive the public and make it look like other entities, did it. Basically, I was thinking, ‘if anything happens in Benghazi tonight to incriminate Gaddafi, then it’s going to be very suspect’. With the war machine primed and ready, but Gaddafi holding things up, it seemed very likely the coalition would find a way to get on with it.
In the end it was unspectacular and unconvincing. By the morning, reports were coming from Benghazi, that, sure enough, Gaddafi had broken his cease fire. A plane had been shot down over Benghazi and rebels had been attacked in the night. As it was, the plane turned out to be flown by a ‘rebel pilot’, (no-one said they had planes, I found that a surprise.) presumably ignoring the no-fly and being shot down by friendly fire. So, all we had was word of mouth from rebels that Gaddafi’s forces had attacked, via ‘sleeper cells’( a buzz phrase for this conflict) and that was enough. We were told Gaddafi had broken the ceasefire and the bombardment began.
So, off we go. Peace, security and protection of the Libyan people, are to be achieved through missile attacks and aerial bombings. And didn’t they get on with it? 110 cruise missiles in the first day at £30,000 each and that’s just a start. £3.3 million worth. You could do some damage with that…build a few hospitals maybe - they’ll need them. It’s truly obscene. Proud generals talk of Trafalgar class ships and Storm Shadow missiles as if it’s something to be proud of. We like war. We’ve got lots of big guns and we win.
The reality is, as researcher Michel Chossudovsky observes, ‘a military operation of this size and magnitude, involving the active participation of several NATO members and partner countries is never improvised. Operation Odyssey Dawn was in the advanced stages of military planning prior to the protest movements in Egypt and Tunisia.
“Operation Odyssey Dawn ” is part of a broader military agenda in the Middle East and Central Asia which looks to gain control and corporate ownership of over sixty percent of the world’s reserves of oil and natural gas, including oil and gas pipeline routes.
The objective of the military operation is not the protection of civilians but regime change and the break up the country, as in Yugoslavia, namely the partition of Libya into separate countries. The formation of a separate State in the oil producing area of Eastern Libya has been contemplated by Washington for many years’.
This kind of swift action from the coalition we’re seeing, was not carried out when the Interham were commiting genocide in Rwanda or Eastern Congo, or when terrible things happened in Somalia. Why? Neither Rwanda or Somalia have operational oil wells. Likewise, if the international community was so concerned about this type of humanitarian crisis, why aren’t they talking about dealing with Bahrain or Yemen, where civillians have been killed in the dozens? Why don’t they help the people of Gazza under the disproportionate oppression of Israel?
No, its obvious; really obvious, when you look at it, that it’s all about natural resources and a power grab. The thing is, we live in a dual reality. Actual reality, and the one portrayed by the authorities and the media. There’s an agenda, a directive from on high and we’re sold the party line. Veteran reporter Jon Simpson came back from Libya a week before the bombing started. He’d been on the ground with the rebels and reported that it was just a ‘few dozen blokes with Kalashnikovs’ suggesting the rebellion was a bit of a joke.. He’s not there anymore and nor is anyone else on the ground it seems. Yes, we’ve got someone in Tripoli and someone in Benghazi but all the action is reported as word of mouth – ‘The rebels say ‘this’, the rebels say ‘that’. It’s all second hand and from an unknown source and, of course, totally pro-coalition.
Forget the minutae, forget the rubbish spouted by our corporate front-men career politicians and our complicit owned and controlled mainstream media. It has NOTHING to do with a humanitarian effort. We’re bombing them for Pete’s sake.
Look at it, it’s this simple: We’re in Libya man. It has the largest oil reserves in Africa. Q.E.D.
Recent years have seen a drive in recruitment to the Armed Forces. Another advert just came on the radio. We’re in a recession here, but there’s plenty of work going if you want to fight the neo-imperial fight for the benefit of super rich global players.
If you want to use your courage in a different way? Don’t go with the flow.
