Ely Online was established in 1996 and was the first website about Ely available on the Internet. It is an independent website not associated to any local government of council. We very much do our own thing. We like to think we display a bit of the old Hereward The Wake* rebel spirit and talk about the things that others dare or will not mention, and we welcome contributions and comments.

* Hereward held out against William The Conqueror for about 3 years back in 1066 creating a "camp of Refuge" on what was then The Isle Of Ely. Read more here.
